After much deliberation (and I truly mean that), taking the top spot and thus being crowned the craziest match in SummerSlam history, is Ric Flair and Mick Foley’s I Quit match from 2006. Given the combination of those competitors and that stipulation, I think you know where this one’s headed.

At the time, these two had a combined age of 98 and yet they put in a performance that well and truly betrayed that number. The violence began with a barbed-wire-clad Mr Socko, as well as barbed wire chops and a barbed wire board, before the barbed wire bat was brought into play, doubtless leaving Boston with a something of a barbed wire shortage.

Unsurprisingly, this combination of steel and stupidity resulted in copious amounts of blood being shed. Yet that still wouldn’t suffice for Foley and he was soon once again pouring out thumbtacks, which Flair was promptly slammed on top of.

That favour was returned as Foley took a horrid bump of his own onto the ramp, and by the end of it all he too was sporting the old 'crimson mask'. In fact, it was more of a crimson body suit, to be quite honest.

There may not have been any one spot that could rival that of Shane and Steve Blackman, but the combination of tacks, blood, and bone-crunching bumps takes this one to a whole new level of crazy.

And that image of Flair on the ropes, buckets of blood on the wrong side of his skin, thumbtacks still lodged in his body while Foley raked 'Barbie' across his face, is an image that speaks a thousand words for the barbarity that was on display during this match.

So there you have it, folks, the 10 craziest matches SummerSlam has ever seen! Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below, and be sure to remind me of which matches I inevitably managed to forget about…
