A far better match and, more importantly, a slightly crazier one, was the WrestleMania X rematch between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon at SummerSlam 1995.

Again, this one was contested for the Intercontinental Championship and, again, the belt was hoisted high above the ring, with the victor required to climb a ladder in order to claim the prize.

Of course, what made this match so special was that Michaels and Ramon tore up the rule book and used the ladders for just about everything other than retrieving the belts. Given that this came more than two decades ago, it was pretty revolutionary for the time, especially since they were under specific instructions to tone down the violence with the ladders.

The pair went 25 minutes in a thrilling bout, which may get overshadowed by its WrestleMania predecessor but still managed to score a 4.75 star rating from noted wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer. We saw Michaels dish out a back suplex, a moonsault, and a big-time body splash, all of which were from atop a ladder, among a host of nasty falls and unorthodox offense before Michaels would avenge his previous defeat.

SummerSlam has a pretty extensive history when it comes to ladder matches, but Michaels vs. Ramon just beats off stiff completion from the likes of Triple H vs. The Rock in 1998 and Rob Van Dam vs. Jeff Hardy in 2001 to claim a spot on this list.
