"The Montreal Screwjob was a work!"

"Brock Lesnar went into business for himself when he ended The Steak!"

"Kenny Omega's going to enter the Royal Rumble!"

One of the best things about wrestling is the amount of excited speculation that comes with being a fan. Everybody's heard the above rumours that weren't true enough times to realise that you've got to be careful what you wish for.

That's the beauty of wrasslin': it's live so anything can happen. There's always a chance someone's going to show up or a title's going to change hands.

Plenty of rumours have come true of course. Cody Rhodes made the jump from All Elite Wrestling to WWE. Hell froze over and CM Punk walked out at the end of Survivor Series 2023. Even The Rock's been on Raw and Smackdown in the last few months!

With WWE on its way towards WrestleMania XL (that's 40 for those who don't use roman numerals), the speculation about what's going happen in 2024 has already begun. Sift through the nonsense and you'll find some pretty interesting stories that could change the landscape of the industry forever this year.

This one felt like it was never going to happen six months ago, but since CM Punk made his unfathomable return to WWE at Survivor Series anything is possible.

It's been telegraphed that Cody Rhodes we be the one to go to 'Mania to face Roman Reigns for the second year in a row. Will he win the Royal Rumble match? Is he going to have to enter the Elimination Chamber instead? Will he finish the story? These are the questions that fans have been asking themselves ever since Solo Sikoa hit the American Nightmare with a Samoan Spike and broke the hearts of everybody watching.

But it's not as simple as that anymore. With CM Punk back in the picture, he must've been promised something big to come back to a place he's spent a decade trashing. Seth "Freakin" Rollins is being lined up for the Chick Magnet first; will they make us wait months for their match, or just get it over and done with at the start of the year instead?

Picture the scene: Punk enters the Royal Rumble match and wins then goes on to face the Tribal Chief with all the belts on the line.

Whoever challenges the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, it's a great booking problem that WWE is facing!

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
