10 Current Best Talkers In Wrestling
4. Eddie Kingston
The realest man in wrestling always feels like the realest man with a mic.
Every word that Eddie Kingston spits is laced with such conviction, nobody blurs the lines of reality better than he does. When he calls someone out, runs down why he doesn't like them and then challenges them to a fight, you have to take a step back to wonder if it's true or not.
When Eddie confronted CM Punk in late-2021, Punk was still riding the crest of the incredible wave of his return. In one of the most passionate and tense promos, Kingston not only called him out for a match, but for his past discretions, peeling back the layers of Punk, which, to be honest, seem to have been exposed at All Out 2022.
The Mad King was so believable in everything he said, and how he broke down Punk's 'good guy' persona, that the fans, inexplicably, booed CM Punk less than six months into his return.
That type of connection with the fans, is not something that can be booked. That type of connection comes from the performer, and the fans have gravitated to Kingston because everything he says feels like the truth.
Further credit must also go to Eddie Kingston, for the fallout of the inexcusably bad ending to the exploding barbed wire match at AEW Revolution 2021. He was made to look like an idiot with that failed explosion, yet in one two-minute promo, he made it work and make sense. Bravo.
