10 Disturbing Times WWE Flirted With Romance Angles

4. Billy & Chuck

In 2002, Billy and Chuck were a tag team that were heavily implied as being homosexual lovers.

Initially, they weren't, but two big dudes who truck people was too boring for WWE, so they were quickly paired with Rico, whose gay panic-adjacent act said the quiet part loud - the quiet part being "Psst you're meant to dislike these suspicious fellers but we're publicly traded now so we can't outright say why [wink wink]."

Eventually, after several months of innuendos and being "caught" in "compromising positions", Chuck finally said the quiet part loud and asked Billy to be his "partner for life". Billy agreed, and the wedding ceremony unfolded - with GLAAD's enthusiastic, unwitting approval - until they couldn't go through with it in the end. Their pretending to be gay was a mere publicity stunt. They each sounded appalled that people would think of them as actual gays.

WWE had decided that gay sex was something to mock...

...except when it involved women, in Hot Lesbian Action segments, in which case it was f*ckin' hot!

One gay sex act is something to masturbate over, the other is something to feel icky about.

Don't you get it?
