10 Dominant NXT Forces (That Were Ruined Immediately On WWE's Main Roster)

The future looks bright... until old Vinnie Mac gets his hands on you.

Once NXT was established as its own weekly show, as opposed to some dumb talent contest designed to embarrass rookie wrestlers, it quickly became a favourite amongst hardcore wrestling fans.

Offering an insight into the future of the business, viewers were able to watch the likes of Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair hone their craft and mould their on-screen characters before transitioning to WWE's flagship shows.

Over time, NXT developed into WWE's third brand and began showcasing some of the hottest talent from the independent wrestling scene. The yellow brand has earned itself a reputation as WWE's most consistently good product, in large part thanks to numerous critically-acclaimed TakeOver events over the past few years.

Call-ups have always been hit and miss. Whilst the likes of Finn Bálor and Kevin Owens landed with aplomb, others haven't been quite so fortunate.

Fans have come to dread call-ups, as it usually results in NXT talents miscast and underutilised on Raw and SmackDown. There have probably been more failures than successes by this point, but we will try to keep this list down to just ten dominant forces that were immediately ruined on the main roster.

10. Aleister Black

The dark, brooding Aleister Black arrived in NXT in 2017 and quickly established himself as one of the brand's top stars.

A solid run, including an NXT Championship reign, came to an end in early 2019 when Black was amongst a group of talents that were hastily called up to the main roster in a desperate attempt to appease fan unrest.

Immediately paired in a tag team with Ricochet, the odd couple managed to work fairly well and put on some entertaining matches. However, the non-sensical alliance of the polarising superstars did show early signs of WWE's inept ability in presenting Aleister Black's unique persona.

Once Black and Ricochet went their separate ways, there was hope that a reset could help Black wipe the slate clean and be able to establish his character.

Instead, he spent months asking people to pick a fight with him while hiding backstage in a cupboard.
