2. Todd Pettengill

And so we come to the Banter Wing - only slightly less irritating than the Celebrity Wing.

Last year saw the inclusion of Hillbilly Jim, who did more to flog home videos than he ever did to flog tickets. In previous years, this role was occupied by Koko B. Ware and The Godfather. We can only deduce that, every so often, a dormant memory bubbles up into McMahon's conscious mind, triggering a yuk-pop sufficient to include the strange players of yesteryear above genuine stars. Pettengill may yet prove a belated beneficiary of Vince McMahon's brand of literal toilet humour.

Todd Pettengill was a complete goofball so earnest and enthusiastic that you could never begrudge him of it. Serving as both backstage interviewer and host of several B-list recap shows throughout the New Generation Era, Pettengill's breezy disposition went some way towards enlivening a product that was in various ways quite dead. He at least possessed the personality missing from his modern-day successors, and must have been a half-decent worker, given his ability to react to uninspiring dreck as if starstruck. Pettengill, hired by Vince McMahon almost immediately after he heard his boss take a massive sh*t, at least comes equipped with fascinating speech material.

Here's hoping his number two anecdote doesn't take two hours to curl out, like the vast majority of the bloody speeches.
