10 Expectations Vs. Reality For WWE Backlash 2020

8. Sonya Deville Vs. Mandy Rose Is Finally Blown Off

Expectation:

All but certain to be added officially at time of writing, Sonya Deville Vs. Mandy Rose has elevated the living hell out of a SmackDown show that last year was almost beyond sh*t. Their real-life bond is as evident as their respective in-ring improvement; their matches are good, they lay it in as good friends do, and they have worked commendably hard together to manufacture a sense of real animosity. This is a passion project born from bored days on the road informed by the anxiety and agony of all those times it was thought abandoned. This deserves a resolution on the pay-per-view stage. It looks exactly as every other stage since they're all in an empty gym, but it's the principle of the thing. WWE isn't a meritocracy - hard and even over work isn't guaranteed to be rewarded - but one of them is a blonde bombshell for whom Kevin Dunn has contrived to no-sell PG guidelines for quite some time now. This deserves a final blow-off with no bullsh*t.

Reality:

Lacey Evans gets involved, stemming from her distraction-assisted win over Sonya last week, because what's better than one blonde?
