10 Expectations Vs. Reality For WWE Backlash 2020

2. Apollo Crews Vs. Andrade

Expectation:

This might finally light the touch paper on some rumbling tension, and create from a mundane scenario a quality midcard feud for RAW's summer months. The timing of Vega's injury on RAW was conspicuous, so expect Angel Garza to cost Andrade the win and his valet, thus initiating a feud that will bang and give Wednesday nights a fright in the match quality department.

Reality:

Maybe not just yet. There's a rematch on RAW to get through first, come on, think of all that fiendishly difficult TV there is to fill.

Instead, this will be a technically very good wrestling match executed in the ***1/2-***3/4 range. This should be really good; Apollo Crew is more powerful than Andrade but equally as skilled across various disciplines, which should force the former Champion to cheat and rely on the interference of Zelina Vega, informing a strong character dynamic, and if all if this feels familiar and a bit unexciting then at least they're regurgitating something good, and not two consecutive Nia Jax run-ins.

Probably didn't need to burn through a storyline that relegated a genuine star to a lower midcard concern just to get to a rematch, mind, but it should be pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good as the theme from Curb Your Enthusiasm once more plays out the main roster career of Kevin Owens.
