From 1993 to 1996, Scott Hall, as Razor Ramon, took part in each Royal Rumble in singles title matches. In the latter three shows, Ramon defended the Intercontinental belt. At the 1996 Rumble, Ramon lost the belt for the last time to Goldust, after interference from The 123 Kid.

When Kid entered into the Rumble later in the night, Ramon chased after him, sliding in and out of the ring throughout the sequence. Ramon was never once an official entry into any Rumble match, and his insinuation into the 1996 bout marks the only time Ramon was ever in the ring while the Royal Rumble was taking place.

In one of those weird ironies, a year later, the fake Razor Ramon was an entrant in the 1997 match. The same year, Scott Hall won WCW's World War III battle royal to earn a title shot at Sting. Life is strange.
