10 Fascinating WWE Survivor Series 1995 Facts
9. The Public Enemy Worked The Dark Match
The night before Survivor Series, Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge lost to The Sandman and 2 Cold Scorpio at ECW's November to Remember. They then made the three hour drive from Philadelphia to Landover, MD, in order to take part in an untelevised match at WWE's pay-per-view.
The Public Enemy lost to WWE Tag Team champions The Smoking Gunns in a match that was believed to have been put together at nearly the last minute. The table-breaking roughnecks were looking to parlay their ECW stardom into brighter days with a major company. WWE, in need of talent (as well as steady tag teams), seemed to be a logical fit.
Former ECW owner Tod Gordon, however, would later claim that he reached out to WCW on their behalf, and got Rock and Grunge to hash out a more financially-beneficial deal through middleman Kevin Sullivan. The Survivor Series trial was merely a one-nighter for the duo.
