It would seem that "which wrestlers will get to run Raw for the next month?" is less enticing than "will Stone Cold have a job at the end of the night?" The 2004 Survivor Series performed far worse than its predecessor, paralleling the drop for each Big Four pay-per-view that year, save for WrestleMania XX.

The 2004 Survivor Series did 325,000 buys, a 28 percent drop from the 450,000 done by the 2003 show. Survivor Series' novelty had long faded by this point, and the lack of a more interesting title match than JBL vs. Booker T probably played a part in this show's meager number.

It did the lowest Survivor Series buyrate since the "Montreal" show pulled in only 250,000 buys. Since the WWE boom really kicked off the year after that, it goes to show just how far off that beaten path WWE was in 2004.
