It seemed like a rather innocuous elimination in the match pitting The Miz's team against John Morrison's team. Around five minutes into the opener, veteran scuffler Finlay was Brogue Kicked and pinned by one of WWE's newest blue chippers, the imposing and towering Sheamus. Doesn't seem like anything out of the ordinary - the newly-pushed big guy eliminates the reliable vet, a staple of the event.

It was, however, an interesting cosmic coincidence. The match was Sheamus' first on a WWE pay-per-view, and it so happened that it was the last WWE pay-per-view match for Finlay.

The following month, Sheamus became a surprisingly-quick WWE Champion, while Finlay reverted to being a full-time agent by the spring of 2010. The only high-profile clash between the two celebrated Irish-born grapplers was this Survivor Series exchange, though few know the (unintended?) implications of it.
