10 Future AEW World Champions

There’s only one world champion, until the next one and the next and the next...

The AEW roster, on the men’s side at least, feels like an embarrassment of riches. Of course they have nowhere near the depth of talent currently crammed into WWE’s Performance Center, but they know how to maximise what they have.

In little over a year, the company have mastered the art of presenting their talent to look and feel like massive stars. The kind of stars that make people buy t-shirts, paint their faces and tune into Dynamite in numbers that make early projections look absurdly modest.

So compiling a list like this isn’t easy but there’s no struggling to make up the numbers. It’s more a case of weighing up the options and deciding who makes the cut. There are plenty of other guys you could make a case for. So many of AEW’s talents already have Future World Champion written all over them. If that sounds predictable, it’s far from dull. The joy comes in seeing how the company’s intricate booking will get them there and what incredible promos and matches we get to enjoy along the way.

10. MJF

5 September's pay-per-view may prove too soon for MJF’s ascension. Instead, his incredible undefeated run may well be sacrificed to Jon Moxley’s title reign.

Nonetheless, when MJF talks about leading AEW for the next twenty five years it’s more than just heel bluster. He’s a world class talker and capable of very good matches against the right opponent. Plus at 24 his peak is still years ahead of him.

MJF can be a top heel in this company for literally decades to come and at some point he’ll get his hands on the big belt.

Whether it’s his undefeated record or his diamond ring, MJF is all about the bragging rights and he’ll be both brilliant and insufferable as AEW World Champion.
