10 Great Chris Benoit Moments WWE Shouldn't Let You Forget

1. Chris Benoit Wins The World Heavyweight Title At WrestleMania XX

For many years, Chris Benoit fans were told that their favorite wrestler would never win the big match. Chris Benoit was simply not world champion material. Yes, he was a great worker, someone who gave his best effort every match, and a wrestler who could have a great match with anyone. However, he was too small, he was too boring on the mic, and he didn't work WWE style. All that changed in 2004 when Chris Benoit finally won the big match on the grandest stage of them all. After winning the 2004 Royal Rumble from the #1 position, Chris Benoit was poised to challenge Triple H in the main event at WrestleMania XX. That WrestleMania would take place at Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of professional wrestling in the United States and the unofficial home of WWE. Leading up to the event, Benoit garnered a huge fan following made up of his longtime supporters and newly created fans from the Royal Rumble. After some storyline shenanigans, the main event of WrestleMania ended up being Triple H vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels. http://youtu.be/hYN9akZIndU?t=7s In the greatest triple threat match of all-time, the three men battled and bloodied each other in a fantastic performance. Many false finishes caused the fans to think maybe Benoit would blow his big chance once again. But no, in the perfect end to the match, Triple H tapped out in the middle of the ring to the Crippler Crossface, giving Benoit the world title after years of hard work. To cap off the evening, WWE champion Eddie Guerrero joined Benoit in the ring and the two friends shared a hug as the confetti fell around them. It was one of the best moments in WWE history and should have signaled the dawning of a new era for WWE. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
