10 Great WWE SummerSlam Matches You've Forgotten About
1. Ken Shamrock Vs Owen Hart (1998)
Ken Shamrock's match with Owen Hart at SummerSlam 1998 probably shouldn't have been as good as it was.
Not that both men weren't serviceable workers, of course: Shamrock was a huge success when he made the jump from MMA to the squared circle during the 90s, whilst Hart was - simply - one of the best wrestlers of his generation.
The "Lion's Den" gimmick, though, seemed a little dubious on paper. WWE in 1998 - where the most prominent storyline featured a dead man, his masked brother and a funeral home fire - was hardly known for its authenticity, and them trying to approximate an MMA fight had disaster written all over it.
In fact, it made for fascinating viewing - and you really wonder why WWE hasn't revisited the concept in recent years (particularly with Lesnar's exploits in UFC).
