10 Greatest WWE Cruiserweight Wrestlers Ever
9. Cedric Alexander
The former Ring Of Honor man got off to a red-hot start with WWE as part of the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic.
While Alexander was dumped out by Kota Ibushi in the second round, his work rate and dynamism did not go unnoticed by the crowd, who vocally implored WWE to sign him up, nor the critics, with the match almost getting a perfect score from the Wrestling Observer.
It wasn’t too long before Alexander was a major part of the company’s new lightweight division, showing out against talented contemporaries like Buddy Murphy, Mustafa Ali, and Kalisto. A hugely watchable performer who has had the fans behind him from the off, Alexander was soon rewarded with a lengthy run as Cruiserweight Champion.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, his progression has slowed down a bit since his call up to Raw, but it does seem that, for the time being, the bookers have faith in the rising star. Alexander has pinfall victories over Drew McIntyre (pre-World belt) and Sami Zayn, and has been involved in feuds with AJ Styles and angles with Ricochet and MVP.
He’s a talent that can’t be denied, and with due attention, he’ll continue moving in the right direction.
