10 Hidden Gem WWE NXT TakeOver Matches That Deserve A Rewatch
2. Adam Cole Vs. Ricochet (NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV)
One might think that a barnburner
like this match, daringly fought over the North American Championship between two
all-time great workers would live in the memory for quite some time. Not to
mention this is the scene of THAT epic superkick from Adam Cole to an
upside-down spring boarding Ricochet. To call that spot perfectly timed would not
be doing it enough justice.
However, when considering Ricochet’s disastrous main roster career, and the contest’s placing on a card headlined by Part Three of Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano’s blood war, then it is far easier to forget such an astounding match.
Adam Cole can do it all, and not once since debuting in NXT, has he felt like any less of the seismic star he was recruited to be. On the one-year anniversary of his NXT arrival, the former Prince Puma stepped up to the plate, as Ricochet was determined to prove himself against the very best. The One and Only flies around the ring with seamless proficiency, making the most jaw-dropping feats look easy, and this was on full display throughout this bout.
The striking exchanges, which lit the fuse for the uber-hot closing stretch is something to behold, such was the prowess of both competitors. Cole sold every devastating near-fall magically, and after Ricochet finally toppled him with the 630, he was crushed. Both men stood and delivered, and the NXT universe stood and applauded.
