10 Huge Signings WWE Must Make In 2020
6. Tessa Blanchard
Tessa Blanchard's contract status is unclear, but she is recognised by consensus as the potential game-changer in women's wrestling. The big fish/small pond maxim applies to Tessa more than most; bluntly, her potential is too vast to waste in a promotion entirely lacking in buzz and profile.
AEW Vice President Cody spoke recently of his desire to recruit Tessa, and there are two connections that make such a move viable: Tessa starred at All In, by winning the sole women's match on the card, and her father Tully works in AEW in an onscreen managerial capacity. AEW pipped WWE to the signature of Kris Statlander recently, so the precedent exists for a below-the-radar coup - but with respect to Statlander, who has impressed on Dynamite of late, Blanchard is not below the radar.
Blanchard carries herself like a true star, is an exceptional natural talent, and works such a legitimate, physical style that Impact Wrestling fans have fully bought into her eye-catching inter-gender matches this year. A Tessa Blanchard Vs. Charlotte Flair match is money, and there's cause for WWE to run with it beyond its prospective excellence.
Flair is the clear face of the division, but has recently agreed with Corey Graves that she isn't at her peak. She is unmotivated. Such a programme may inspire Charlotte to revert to her stunning 2018 form.
