WrestleMania was too big for one night. The risk was worth the reward at Money In The Bank. Backlash promised the greatest wrestling match ever. And Extreme Rules is going to be a f*cking horror show.

But we have passed the point of it being a tagline or a gimmick now. As evidenced by the updated logo and urgent branding switch that saw various bits of pre-recorded commentary dubbed over to suit Vince McMahon's latest kink, The Horror Show At Extreme Rules has seen WWE open up the Halloween In January store from BoJack Horseman at an even less seasonal time of year for it.

The man that wouldn't have ever brought the giant pumpkins back for Halloween Havoc has instead decided to toast one of the scariest summers in human history by leaning into it with matches set in swamps and stipulations about ripping eyes clean from sockets.

WWE has only just started insisting all staff and talent wear masks thanks to the prodding of Kevin Owens. It seems but a matter of time before he's recast to finish the Dean Ambrose "you all stink" fiasco of 2018. Now that was a real g*ddamn horror show. This, on the other hand?

10. The Best Of The Rest

This article is being written days before the go-home SmackDown and the distinct possibility WWE will add yet more b*llocks or b*llshit to a card already overspilling with both.

Raw's covered off or saving the big matches featuring the The Big Show to pop the big numbers, but blue brand has the plenty to offer on paper. Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles hasn't got a match but hasn't been short a challenger on SmackDown? Could a new face step right up or an old one step back in? Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro (and their delicious matching gear) put The New Day through a table, surely signposting a simple stipulation for something that would suit a show like this, or at very least a Kickoff for a show like this.

And that's before we get to the fallout of the karaoke challenge (!) following Lacey Evans' heel turn and Naomi's placement in an actual storyline for the first time in well, well over a year. Of that little lot, let's go big just to have something to talk about in a division that's had little for most of the year.
