10 Instances Of Nudity On Pro Wrestling TV

WWE at its most Raw!

Though today, WWE proudly operates under a TV-PG banner -- declaring itself family entertainment appropriate for all ages - longtime fans know that's a more recent development. Beginning in the late 1990s, WWE was a haven for the sensational and the smutty - there was more violence, more salty language, and of course, more sex. More than just raunchy angles filled with innuendo that appealed to a demographic of high school boys, WWE broadcast actual nudity on its programming (which really appealed to high school boys). From Sable to Jacqueline to Mae Young to Willam Regal, WWE (and its imitators) sought to get people talking by breaking the last taboo of pro wrestling. More often than not, it worked. This list - 10 instances of nudity on pro wrestling TV - contains no wardrobe malfunctions, nor does it contain any overzealous schoolboy roll ups. All of the nudity in these cases was planned before execution - although in at least one case, everybody got a bit more than they bargained for. Enjoy the ride down one of the dirtier stretches of memory lane.

10. Dawn Marie - Smackdown

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4t6li_dawn-marie-flashes-the-crowd_sport The late Sean O'Haire was seen as one of pro wrestling's greatest cases of missed potential. Though he was scheduled for a major push in WCW, those plans went by the wayside when the company was purchased by WWE. Finally, in 2003, he seemed to be getting his shot with a character that has come to be known as "The Devil's Advocate," where he would convince other superstars to give into their baser impulses. On one episode of Smackdown, O'Haire met with Diva Dawn Marie, and ended up talking her into flashing the crowd. In the center of the ring, Dawn Marie took off her shirt for all to see. For the viewers at home, a crafty camera angle was used where the nudity was partially obscured by the ring ropes.

9. Angel - ECW Summer Sizzler 1993

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8tq4z_miss-peaches-vs-terrible-tigra_sport ECW may have been Eastern Championship Wrestling in 1993, but it was still extreme. The company had a reputation for breaking the boundaries of sex and violence, and with Summer Sizzler - their first major show - the renegade group from Philly looked to get people talking. During the show, Miss Peaches (Lori Fullington, The Sandman's wife) took on La Tigra in a "Cat Fight Humiliation Match" - needless to say, it wouldn't go down in history as a technical display. Peaches won via interference from Angel, but after the match came the real story. Peaches tried to cut a promo, but she was interrupted by Rockin' Rebel and Tony Stetson. A scuffle ensued, and Tigra's top was pulled off. Though this may not have been the most widely-seen moment on the list, but it notably stands as the earliest.

8. Candace Michelle - Monday Night Raw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbAPm2P7qkg All eyes were on WWE during the build-up to WrestleMania XXIII... and they got treated to quite the show. Though viewers came to see how the feud between Vince McMahon and Donald Trump would continue to escalate, a nondescript Divas match turned into the talk of the entire evening. During the bout - a Falls Count Anywhere match for the Women's Title - Mickie James and Melina brawled to the back. They quickly ended up in the women's locker room, and chaos ensued - Maria got thrown over a couch, Victoria and Torrie Wilson got involved, and finally, Candice Michelle came out of the shower wearing a towel. No word on why she was showering during Raw - she hadn't wrestled earlier in the night and didn't wrestle afterwards. Nevertheless, shower she did, and her towel got pulled off, giving fans a quick glimpse.

7. Lollypop - TNA Pay-Per-View

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xzfl5i_nwa-tna-lollypop-topless_redband When Jeff and Jerry Jarrett decided to open their own promotion to compete with WWE, they titled it (or subtitled it, beneath the National Wrestling Alliance banner) Total Nonstop Action. It was a play on words, you see - since the show was running weekly Pay-Per-Views rather than TV, there would be no break in the action... and since anything goes on PPV, the initials TNA hinted at a more adult product. Aside from some raunchier humor and fouler language, there wasn't much on TNA that you couldn't regularly find on WWE programming. The organization finally lived up to its double entendre, though, when one of the bikini-clad cage dancers who adorned the entranceway, Lollypop, removed her top. The camera cut away after a few seconds of nudity, but TNA had proven just what they could do - the same thing WWE had done years earlier.

6. Mae Young - Royal Rumble 2000

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4oyau_miss-royal-rumble-2000_shortfilms The month after Armageddon (more on that soon), WWE announced that all of the company's Divas would be participating in a bikini contest at the Royal Rumble. Sex-starved fans hoped that this contest would outdo everything the company had given them before... and it did. When the contest came, everybody gave it their all. Jacqueline and Terri Runnels showed off their swimwear. Barbara Bush made one of her first - and last - appearances. Odds-on favorite The Kat wore bubble wrap rather than a true bikini. Even stodgy Ivory showed up dressed to compete. The contest seemed to be over when Mae Young marched out in an old-timey swimsuit that didn't do its job for long. She pulled the suit down, exposing disturbing prosthetic breasts to the audience (those at home had the scene partially covered up with a censor bar, but we lucky few who were there live did not). Not only did Young win the contest, she also outdid Cactus Jack's Pedigree into thumbtacks for the most ghastly sight of the night.

5. Lita - Monday Night Raw

Edge finally won the WWE Championship at New Year's Revolution 2006, so the next night on Raw, he decided to throw a celebration... a live sex celebration. Censors and good taste be damned, the new champion and his lovely lady, Lita, were going to have sex right in the middle of the ring, live on Raw. When the time came, there was a bed set up, because nobody wants to get a staph infection. The pair got under the covers and got down to business, but former champion John Cena ran out to interrupt, cementing his legacy as a true heel to this day. Prior to that commotion, though, there was a different kind - the covers were pulled off of Lita, and she was partially exposed to the world. So, yes, technically this one was an accident, but given the circumstances, it was an accident waiting to happen.

4. Jacqueline and Sable -- Fully Loaded 1998

Prior to the bikini contest at Fully Loaded, teenage boys' hopes were high - after all, Sable promised that what she had planned for the exhibition would make the bathing suit she wore at the previous years' Slammy Awards (a most revealing number) look like an evening gown. Jacqueline was out first, and she revealed her own teeny weeny bikini (and more, as she briefly flashed the camera). When Sable disrobed, she showed the world exactly what she had planned - a "top" that was simply two strategically-placed paint handprints. With emcee Jerry Lawler looking his absolutely happiest, Sable won the contest and immediately became a superstar. And thankfully, Dustin Runnels prayed for our souls before it all got underway.

3. The Kat - Insurrextion 2000

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTx8yGxTAwE Never let it be said that WWE always refuses to give the fans what they want. After a successful experiment at Armageddon 1999 (more on that later), the company decided to continue pressing the envelope in the exact same fashion. The Kat (formerly Miss Kitty), was to take on Terri Runnels (formerly Marlena) in an arm wrestling contest. Terri tried to cheat by spitting water at The Kat, but Mae Young interfered, dumping the drink all over Terri. This allowed The Kat to score the win, but Terri wasn't done yet. She ripped off The Kat's top, gaining a measure of revenge and making fans forget they had just been watching an arm wrestling match. Meanwhile, Jerry Lawler shrieked with joy at seeing his own wife's breasts. Apparently, the law of diminishing returns doesn't apply to nudity.

2. Jacqueline - Capital Carnage 1998

The Sable-Jacqueline feud continued, and at Capital Carnage - a UK-only Pay-Per-View held in December of 1998 - they met in a mixed tag match, taking Christian and Marc Mero as their respective partners. During the match, Sable nailed her estranged husband with a Powerbomb, then Christian chased "Marvelous" Mark backstage. Sable pressed her advantage, nailing Jacqueline with a TKO that scored the three count. The post-match activities were more memorable than the match itself, though. An irate Jacqueline attacked referee Tim White, knocking him to the mat. White got up, but with Jackie still attacking him, the former Women's Champion ended up on his shoulders. Sable took advantage of the confusion, ripping Jacqueline's top off. Stunned, Jackie had nowhere to turn. She ran to the back, leaving Sable to celebrate her victories.

1. The Kat - Armageddon 1999

At the final WWE Pay-Per-View of 1999, Women's Champion Ivory was to defend her title in a Four Way Evening Gown Pool Match (you know, that old stipulation). Like in a regular Evening Gown Match, a Diva would lose when she was stripped of her dress. The pool was there to separate the women from the girls. The first elimination was Jacqueline, then Barbara Bush was disrobed, leaving Ivory and The Kat (formerly Miss Kitty) Kat's enthusiasm won out over Ivory's experience, and she stripped the veteran to win the title. Such a momentous victory required a celebration, though. The Kat gleefully disrobed, going topless before she was covered up by stagehands. You won't see it on any "Best of WWE" video packages, but it was the most notable moment of Armageddon - or The Kat's career.
