2. These Shows Sell Without The Legends

The Undertaker wasn't on the card whatsoever. John Cena's Thuganomics return was a total surprise. Triple H and Batista carried a big match feel but virtually nobody in attendance would have minded seeing it cut to save time. HBK did commentary for one match.

WrestleMania was a monumental critical and financial success off the drawing power of Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey, Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar. Of those, only Lesnar is over the age of 40.

While the novelty shows in Australia and Saudi Arabia have all been headlined by WWE's continued desire to trade on Attitude Era nostalgia, the biggest shows of 2019 have all been platforms for wrestlers who've only emerged in the company (or its main event scene) in the last few years. This is the way it should be, and the only way the company can ensure long-term appeal for its biggest shows.
