10 Major Improvements WWE Must Make Before WrestleMania XL

WrestleMania 39 has to be classed as a general success for World Wrestling Entertainment.

An apparent record-breaking 160,000+ attendance over two nights in SoFi Stadium. A monumental gate of $21.6 million. All-time sponsorship and merchandise records were obliterated. The most social WrestleMania of all time, too, with 500 million+ views and 11 million hours of content consumed across the weekend.

But even with that level of measurable success, it's still hard to class the most recent Show of Shows or the time leading up to it as an all-around perfect one with no notes.

In fact, outside of the gripping Bloodline and Mysterio sagas, could you class any other bout on the Mania card as one that was genuinely hotly anticipated heading into the two-night extravaganza? And what about those names who had spent the year getting well and truly over, only to disappear when it came time to book the biggest show on the calendar?

Simply put, there's a lot that WWE need to massively change or improve on before next year's 40th WrestleMania mega-show rocks up in Philadelphia. Otherwise, it's going to be yet another long year in the chaotic world of sports entertainment...

The way The Game handled this year's Royal Rumble was actually a step back in the right direction when it comes to making that grand prize feel like a career-maker.

The same sadly cannot be said for the way Papa H, and his father-in-law before him, approached the once-prestigious Money in the Bank briefcase.

2022 saw Liv Morgan and Austin Theory win their respective matches. But because Vince has zero idea how to book long-term anymore, the former became just the latest woman to cash in within 24 hours and the latter went on to become an absolute loser with a golden/green ticket lunch box.

Trips didn't exactly do Theory or the case any favours once he began booking the madness either, sending the vanilla heel out to die in multiple PLE main event cash-in attempts. It may be stating the obvious somewhat, but never again can a MITB case be surrendered for an opportunity to get your hands on a mid-card strap.

It was a laughably dumb move in November.

So, keep it simple, stupid, with a long-running, preferably heel, MITB reign for either the man or woman (or both) heading out of the first-ever British-set iteration of the PLE in July. And then just don't have said potential main event star fail to even challenge for the big one. It's really not that hard.
