10 Matches We Must See In Lucha Underground Season 2

The Master of the 619 has turned up at The Temple, but who must he face?

Just when you thought the format of a professional wrestling show was set in stone, along comes a product that changes everything up. Lucha Underground first aired in October 2014, and the first season of the show was an exercise in storytelling, a wrestling show full of compelling characters and narratives that were equal parts implausible and believable. To call it a breath of fresh air would be an understatement. But with all of the shady monsters in cages, the resurrection of a man of a thousand deaths, the broken bones as sacrifices to a dark master and literal dragons, it is easy to forget that this is indeed a professional wrestling show at heart. The action takes place in an arena with a squared circle at its heart, with competitors battling it out in an attempt to eventually keep their foes down for the old 1-2-3. The roster is also full to the brim of fantastic talent, and even the most cursory glance at the list of wrestlers inspires fantasy booking. This desire was only increased with the arrival of Rey Mysterio, without doubt the most recognisable face ever to feature on the show. Not long out of his tenure in WWE, Rey's presence in the The Temple throws up a whole new list of potential opponents for the Master of the 619. It isn't all about Rey, however, and there is a whole host of matches that truly need to happen in Season Two. Here are 10 of the finest potential bouts.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
