10 Mistakes WWE Made With Alberto Del Rio

9. Pairing Him With Zeb Colter

One thing I neglected to mention about Del Rio’s return at Hell in a Cell is that he didn’t make his comeback alone; he now found himself aligned with Zeb Colter.

That’s the same Zeb Colter who’d previously been embroiled in a bitter feud with Del Rio in the lead up to WrestleMania 29, and the same Zeb Colter who’d been portraying the gimmick of a militant Tea Partier with stringent anti-immigration beliefs.

Point being; this was not a man who should have been paired with Del Rio for his triumphant WWE return.

Furthermore, the Wrestling Observer has since reported that he was initially promised a run “with Paul Heyman as his manager”. Surely that would have been a better plan of action than pairing Del Rio with someone who had up until recently been so recently anti-Mexico?

I’m not saying that Colter isn’t a great manager, it’s just his character was a total mismatch when compared with that of Del Rio’s and it made for an odd fit.
