10 Moments That Defined Impact Wrestling In 2020
1. The Black Wednesday Aftermath
It'll arguably go down as one of the most infamous moments in WWE history: Black Wednesday.
As part of budget cuts, Vince McMahon and co. released a whole host of talent, both in-ring and behind the scenes. WWE's loss, though, soon became the gain of Impact Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, and Ring Of Honor, as the three snapped up a good portion of those released.
For Impact, they gained some huge stars, leading to them being ever so cheeky in the build towards Slammiversary with a number of teases being made ahead of their July showcase. The Good Brothers, Eric Young, Deonna Purrazzo, EC3, Brian Myers, and Heath all came into Impact.
For the company to sign up so many performers during one of the most unprecedented periods goes to show how much they strive to have the deepest pool of talent. The fact they didn't just sign these names simply to have them is a key detail - they've done something with all of them, although the less said about their Brian Myers usage, the better.
With The Good Brothers and Deonna as the current World Tag Team and Knockouts Champions, respectively, and Young a former World Champion since returning, it's safe to say Impact Wrestling benefited greatly from WWE's troublesome April.
