10 Most Bizarre WWE Superstar Injuries Ever
1. Cesaro's Teeth Shoved Into His Gums
The 2017 edition of No Mercy saw Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose defend their Raw Tag Team Championship against Sheamus and Cesaro. The former Shield brothers had defeated The Bar to win the titles a month earlier at SummerSlam, and Sheamus and Cesaro looked to regain the titles at the event.
However, The Bar couldn't get the job done as Ambrose pinned Sheamus to retain. But the loss wasn't the only blow for Cesaro that night, as he injured his teeth during the match. 'The Swiss Superman' accidentally hit his mouth on the ring post during the contest, which resulted in his two front teeth getting pushed up into his upper jaw by about 3mm to 4mm.
Cesaro has the reputation of being one of the strongest wrestlers in the entire industry, and he received a standing ovation backstage that night for showcasing his toughness by going through with the rest of the match for another ten minutes. He then underwent maxillofacial surgery after the event to remove the two damaged teeth and replace them with implants. Not that he stayed away from action for long; he returned to the ring five days after sustaining the injury. He had to wear braces for the next two years and wore a mouthguard in his matches until getting the braces removed in 2019.
