There was something off about Mickie James the moment she debuted on WWE television. Overbearing and rambunctious, she expressed her fandom of Trish Stratus to the women's champion herself, then spent the proceeding weeks getting closer and closer to the blonde bombshell. She was not particularly fond of the fact that Trish had another friend in Ashley Massaro, a fact that led to a match between the two at the Royal Rumble. Beating her was not good enough, though. It still did not bring her any closer to Trish, who requested some space from her devotee. That did not set well with Mickie, whose obsession with the women's champion intensified to the point that, if she could not have her, she would be the instrument of her destruction. She created a shrine to Trish, attacked her on Saturday Night's Main Event and kidnapped Ashley, promising to do her harm if the object of her affection did not follow her commands. At WrestleMania, the delightfully deranged Diva defeated her idol to capture the women's champion, doing so with the full support of the fans in Chicago, this proving that sometimes being the crazy chick gets you over.
