10 Most Important Superstars On The Road To WWE Summerslam 2014
Traditionally, Summerslam has been recognised as WWE's second biggest annual pay-per-view offering. Given the youth movement that was officially ushered in at Wrestlemania XXX, this year's Summerslam represents a huge opportunity for WWE to showcase their collection of new stars at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. The quality of shows and story lines this year has been largely excellent, and with an unprecedented number of over superstars seemingly about to reach the upper echelons of the card in the coming months, the company should be able to produce matches that will generate an electric atmosphere. The blockbuster summer event has a fantastic heritage, and those performing will have the honour of following in the footsteps of some of the all-time classic matches such as the Intercontinental Title Match between Bret 'Hitman' Hart vs 'British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith, the Two out of Three Falls contest between Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit, and last year's excellently eventful main event between Daniel Bryan and John Cena for the WWE Championship. The potential for this August's show is massive, and WWE has done an excellent job in creating intrigue around many of the key players who will no doubt be instrumental in the show. With Payback, Money in the Bank and Battleground yet to take place (at time of writing) during May, June and July respectively, there is ample time and possibility for WWE to pave the way for Summerslam. There will be colossal interest in how they do this and what they will ultimately achieve by doing so. Off the back of a fantastic Wrestlemania, there a number of superstars whose futures will be considerably shaped in the coming months. Here, we take a look at the ten superstars whose destinies may be shaped the most in the two-and-a-half month run-in leading up to Summerslam.
