One of the great things about WWE is watching the return of a favorite wrestler.

Fans loved it when Shawn Michaels came back from his in-ring retirement, ratings went up when The Rock made his return in 2011 and Brock Lesnar brought in big business after his incredibly lengthy hiatus in 2012. But some names return...and we’re not quite sure why. It's not always a bad thing, just...kind of strange.

Often there is a definable reason why a particular wrestler leaves WWE. Creative may not have anything for them, or they’re no longer connecting with the crowd or drugs or personal problems can come into play. But Vince McMahon is known to give plenty of second chances. Only he knows why some people are gifted with another opportunity.

For this list of random returns, we’re not looking for cameos, or short programs. These are men and women who were hired to full-time deals after being out of the company for a lengthy period of time, and who we thought we'd never see again.

Lately WWE has been reaching out to former talents to fill-in the split rosters, featuring surprise reunions with Rhino, Curt Hawkins and Jinder Mahal. But in the past, there have been quite a few other names that were even far more unexpected.

Here is WWE's 10 most random full-time returns.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
