10 Most Shocking Things That Happened On WWE SmackDown Post-WrestleMania

1. Jack Swagger's World Title Win (2010)

Before NXT fed the main roster and WWE drank the indy scene dry, they had to rely on other methods to build new talent. Jack Swagger, recruited due to his rawboned amateur wrestling roots, was one of those who came up through the tarnished ECW band and he was a star higher-ups had big, big hopes for. Why else would they crown him World Heavyweight Champ so shortly after WrestleMania XXVI?

With images of matches like Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker and John Cena vs. Batista still fresh in their minds, fans didn't see Swagger's quick MITB cash in on Chris Jericho coming. They were fully expecting the hype for a 'Mania rematch between Y2J and Edge to kick off on SmackDown instead.

Nope. It was Swags who traded his briefcase for the belt instead.

Although his title reign would end up being a bit of damp squib, Swagger did provoke one of those astonished and amazed post-WrestleMania responses WWE want from their audience by winning. He'd drop the title three months later in a Fatal-4-Way.
