10 Most Shocking Vince McMahon Moments
9. Aligning With Austin
People often disagree when discussing the start of the Attitude Era. Was it Austin's infamous 3:16 promo? Was it the moment he defeated Shawn Michaels in the main event of WrestleMania XIV? Perhaps it was exactly a year earlier, when he passed out to Bret Hart's Sharpshooter rather than submit.
However, when it comes to the end of wrestling's second golden period, most agree that it came at the end of WrestleMania X-Seven. Having found himself unable to put away The Rock, Stone Cold turned to his nemesis - Vince McMahon.
The sight of the two mortal enemies shaking hands transformed the wrestling world, and acted as a controversial exclamation point to one of the best matches ever. Although the live Texan crowd cheered the (now villainous) Rattlesnake, this new alignment turned Austin heel - and pretty much threw the wrestling landscape into chaos. It was followed by the Two-Man Power Trip, the Invasion, and the rapid cooling of WWE's hot streak. So yeah - a pretty shocking Vince moment in all honesty.
It only finished ninth on this list. God help us all.
