10 New Directions After WWE Battleground 2016
8. Sasha's First Challenger
Now, I might be getting a little ahead of myself here, but
having discussed how Banks is destined for a title shot, and with Charlotte
having sat at the top of the division for so long, it feels like a change of
champ could be on the cards.
So I’m fully backing Banks to leave SummerSlam with the belt. Beyond that (and beyond the likely rematch that Charlotte will be granted), one has to wonder where do we go from there?
It may not be a particularly welcome choice, but for me it seems very likely that we could be in line for a Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax feud for the WWE Women’s Championship.
It could seem far too early for Jax to be challenging for such honours, but her inexperience provides a viable get-out for her losing the feud without having her buried for good, much like her the situation surrounding her initial challenge for Bayley’s NXT Women’s Title at the tail end of last year.
On the flipside, she’s physically imposing enough to be considered a threat despite being a relative rookie. In fact, she’s not even a relative rookie, she’s an all-out absolute rookie.
Then again, that rookie status only adds to the novelty of this possible direction.
