10 Perfect So-Bad-They’re-Good Wrestling Moments

7. Sparky Plugg's Introductory Vignette

Sparky 'Bob Holly' Plugg announced his arrival onto the World Wrestling Federation scene in this pre-recorded interview. Italics have been used for emphasis because it didn't occur to Plugg nor the WWF to film more than one ultra-botched take.

Plugg isn't sure whether or not to get into his race car as he begins his promo. He was a race car driving professional wrestler. The identity crisis is understandable, to be fair. "I'm so excited about being here!" he cried, as a race was in progress. "But do you know why I'm so excited about being here?" Erm, just being there?

"My friends, they call me Sparky - and you can call me Sparky too!" Hey, at least we know he's a babyface. Still, not sure that's what Jim Ross was on about with his "maximising minutes" mantra. Plugg was evidently ecstatic about the prospect of racing cars - he got to put his pedal to the medal, twice, in a forty second promo - which made his decision to moonlight as a pro wrestler all the more baffling.

This isn't as infamous as the Shockmaster in the all-time naff stakes. That's probably because Fred Ottman takes the ribbing in good faith. Bring this up to Bob Holly and he will break your ass in half, you little sh*thead.
