10 Positive Signs Going Into WrestleMania 33
8. Axxess Granted
While this particular development might not affect the 'Show of Shows' itself, it serves as a strong indication of WWE’s booking and talent development philosophies going forward. This year’s WrestleMania Axxess event will host matches not only featuring stars from NXT, 205 Live, and the UK Championship Tournament, but also UK independent promotions PROGRESS and Insane Championship Wrestling.
For starters, this is a good sign that WWE is still looking to cultivate and nurture relationships with smaller companies, in an attempt to bring their most promising wrestlers to larger audiences. Pete Dunne and Trent Seven are even being billed as the PROGRESS and ICW Champions respectively, which is a bold and fairly unprecedented move where WWE is concerned.
It also shows that while 205 Live and the UK Championship have yet to really make an impact on a global mainstream stage, WWE has faith in their ability to bring in hardcore crowds, at least enough to highlight their skills during the week of WrestleMania.
