10 Powerful Wrestling Promos That Never Uttered A Word
3. Triple H And The Undertaker
On the February 21, 2011 RAW, the Undertaker made his grand return to WWE following a series of cool-as-sh*t, dark western vignettes.
In a tremendous, characterful moment, Triple H interrupted him unexpectedly, channelling the degenerate of old with a c*ck-out transgression.
Triple H chopped his crotch.
'Taker motioned to slit his throat in response.
Match was made.
This might scan as lazy, but it was an exceptional segment drenched in belief and trust. Triple H and the Undertaker used their symbology to encourage the fans to book the match in the theatre of their mind, and in another superb flex, theirs was better on the night. An expertly-crafted narrative, the myth of the Undertaker was humanised throughout 30 gruesome minutes in a bid to convince the audience that this lamentable, unrecognisable version of the Dead Man could not stand back up, much less power out of a three count. Our knowledge of Triple H - unflinching politician - was used against us.
This was subsequently ruined by the following week's incomprehensible exposition. Triple H revealed that he had challenged the Undertaker because "nobody else in the back" was worthy. "There are no other challenges left, really," Triple H, who lost to the Undertaker at WrestleMania X-Seven, said.
"Unless you fancy carrying a greenhorn, Dead Man, you might as well work me!"
