NXT TakeOver: San Antonio proved to be a decent show considering how hugely overshadowed it has been by one of the most unpredictable Royal Rumble events in history.

Shinsuke Nakamura's second reign as NXT Champion came to its bitter end at the hands of Bobby Roode, while #DIY suffered a similarly devastating loss to the Authors of Pain.

The event should be a catalyst for the reinvention of NXT going into 2017, as the brand desperately seeks to regain its lost momentum. With a host of new stars to debut as well as underlying stories to explore, fans should be generally excited about the direction NXT is headed. Going into WrestleMania season, NXT will undoubtedly want to make a big impression in their home city of Orlando during 'Mania weekend, and the matches they put on there should start to take shape over the next weeks and months.

What direction will NXT and their competitors take?

10. Sanity Vs. #DIY

Sanity had a decent showing in San Antonio, the group seeming menacing as they descended through fog to the ring. Eric Young and Nikki Cross were the only two members in action but Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain made their presence felt when helping their leader steal a win over Dillinger.

All the attention that was given to bringing the monster formerly known as Damo into the group should be an indication that NXT management are high on the big Belfast hoss. It's therefore likely he'll attain a prominent position on the show, and a good way to do this would be to have him square off with the former tag champs #DIY, both of whom masterfully put over the Authors of Pain as hugely destructive competitors.

Dain could team with Wolfe or group leader Young in an effort to go over one of the hottest teams in wrestling.
