10 Proposed WrestleMania Matches (Which Didn't Happen)

Turns out wrestling fans missed out on a whole load of awesome...

Traditionally, a lot of the major Wrestlemania matches are thought to be planned many months in advance. Reading a lot of pro wrestling autobiographies of men and women who have competed on the grand stage, sometimes these bouts are even programmed as far back as the previous Summer, certainly in bygone generations. It seems that WWE today don't rely so much on foresight - there's a lot of wrestling television between the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania, so original plans don't have to be brainstormed quite so early. Nonetheless, there is a certain caliber of match which fans expect from the biggest show on the grappling calendar, and the pressure to meet that must be immense. Perhaps this explains why WWE have often brought back older stars to fill out the card, feeling the regular roster wouldn't entice back lapsed fans or more casual enthusiasts. It's only natural that there have been multiple bouts which were in the pipeline, only to be scrapped for a variety of reasons. Some of these matches were canned due to wildly changing booking plans, or maybe even an unsavoury relationship between the wrestlers themselves. This list explores 10 of the biggest examples of Wrestlemania matches which, for whatever reason, didn't happen.
