10 Reasons AEW Fans Should Be Worried
1. The MJF Situation
Is it a work? A shoot? A worked shoot or a shoot that’s turned into a work? Whatever’s going on it could cause problems for Tony Khan. He won’t want to lose the best weekly, episodic performer in all of wrestling. On the other hand, he won’t want to lose trust with the fans or the locker room. Or send a message that talent can force his hand by no showing events.
“The Salt of The Earth” going AWOL over Double Or Nothing weekend threatened to overshadow the end of his two-year-long arc with Wardlow. If his frustrations are now being folded into storylines, where does that lead? No one wants to see Tony Khan pulling on his wrestling boots. Given his stature in the company and history with Punk, MJF might have made a perfect interim champion. But why would the guy who’s made it clear he wants to be fired even compete for that opportunity?
MJF’s latest, hugely entertaining promo might suggest things have all been worked out behind the scenes. Why else would he be allowed to say all that stuff? But remember, Cody was allowed to cut scattershot, pipebomb adjacent promos when he was out of contract and halfway out the door. Hopefully everything is resolved in a way that suits all parties, but this story isn’t over yet.
