10 Reasons Why NXT TakeOver: The End Was Sadly Underwhelming
2. The Lack Of Excitement Ahead
One of the best things about NXT is that even after an incredible payoff TakeOver event, there is always something big to look forward to. This TakeOver didn't have that.
As the entries on this list have described, there is an inevitable feeling that NXT has petered out. That 'what's going to happen next?' feeling routinely coupled with a TakeOver show just doesn't exist. Sure, Finn Balor is destined for the main roster, Andrade "Cien" Almas has debuted and The Authors of Pain (eugh) are now a thing, but there isn't anything big fueling the desire for the next episode of NXT.
TakeOver: Dallas is a classic example of NXT building for the future, with the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, American Alpha and Asuka all being painted as the future of the brand. In comparison, it feels as though the majority of matches on TakeOver: The End's card didn't account for the future.
If this is truly 'the end of the beginning', can we please go back to the start?
