Rey's never faced Finn Bálor or Samoa Joe, but did you know he's wrestled AJ Styles and Ricochet?

Rey Mysterio officially returned to the WWE earlier this month and in his short time back has already had dream bouts against Shinsuke Nakamura and Andrade Almas. Like those two competitors, there are now a wealth of superstars who entered the WWE fold during Mysterio's three year absence. As such, there are multiple potential opponents for the legendary star that he's never faced before -- from Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens to cruiserweight standouts Kalisto and Buddy Murphy.

Interestingly, however, there are some new WWE stars that Rey previously had a chance to wrestle during his three years away. Mysterio traveled the world, competing in the United Kingdom, for AAA in Mexico, a one-time match for New Japan, and even wrestled in the main event of the historic ALL IN pay-per-view. During those travels, the legendary luchador faced a handful of current WWE stars -- including the company's reigning champion, AJ Styles.

With that, here's a list of five dream bouts you may not know already took place outside of WWE, as well as ten exciting potential matches for Rey Mysterio that fans have never seen before.

15. Kassius Ohno

Prior to originally joining the WWE and competing in its Florida Championship Wrestling developmental territory, the former Chris Hero was considered one of the hottest prospects in all of wrestling. Since taking on the role of NXT's gatekeeper, it's unlikely Kassius Ohno will ever find himself in a prominent position on WWE’s main roster. Still, he is considered one of the most consistent in-ring technicians there is, as well as a respected mind behind-the-scenes.

However, for over three years Ohno returned to the independent scene after being released from WWE. Shortly before his return in 2016, the gifted and surprisingly athletic star competed in six-man tag team action at that year's WrestleCon event in Dallas, Texas. Across the ring from Ohno was a team of versatile high-flyers, including the legendary Rey Mysterio.

The two briefly did battle during the bout as Rey landed a series of aerial attacks and was able to counter nearly all of Ohno's offense. Unfortunately, their interaction together proved brief as Ohno was distracted by a scuffle with his own partner, Zack Sabre Jr. Still, the original KO can claim to have wrestled Mysterio, though it was more of a tease than a satisfying encounter.
