10 Saddest Times Wrestlers Couldn't Finish The Story
5. Booker T
Everybody knows about the controversial and racially charged feud between Triple H and Booker T from 2003.
It all happened in the buildup to WrestleMania XIX, where The Game would be defending his World Heavyweight Champion against the former World Championship Wrestling star. This was prime Triple H beats the former WCW wrestlers time, but people had more reasons to cheer for Booker.
For some reason, they decided to have Triple H belittle Booker T with racially insensitive comments. The Game questioned Booker T's credentials, made derogatory remarks about his past criminal record and suggested that a man of Booker T's background could never be a world champion. The storyline drew criticism for perpetuating racial stereotypes and reinforcing negative perceptions. It wasn't a good look for WWE.
It was even worse when they came face-to-face at the Show of Shows. It's a story that should'n't have happened, but it did, so they could at least have Booker T finish it with a big win over Triple H. You guessed it: The Game won after a Pedigree and the longest wait in the world between move and cover.
WWE could've leant into Booker T's background in a different way, focusing on how his troubled past helped him become the star he is today. Instead they started a story they had no intention of finishing; people are still mad about it too.
