So good was Scott Hall at playing the Razor Ramon character, and so effective was his shocking job to The 1-2-3 Kid on an episode of Raw, that fans started to take to the 'Bad Guy'. By the time SummerSlam rolled around, Razor was all set to put the 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase in his place for mocking him about the surprising defeat to Kid.

DiBiase's tenure as a full time in-ring performer was coming to an end, and this would prove to be his last pay-per-view match in the WWF. The pair opened the event, wrestling for just over seven minutes before Ramon put DiBiase away with the Razor's Edge.

Whilst relatively short, Razor vs. DiBiase really helped establish the former as a top babyface in the company and allowed Ted to take some time off before returning as a manager.

Quickly, Razor Ramon morphed into one of the most popular stars in the entire WWF, and he was put over in a big way by his peer at SummerSlam. It was a terrific way to open the pay-per-view.
