10 Substitutions That Could Improve WWE Survivor Series 2021 Teams

This year's Survivor Series teams have a lot of cannon fodder where the cavalry should be.

Well... that was pretty uneventful, wasn't it?

Qualifying matches are becoming something of a lost practice in WWE. At one point, every participant in the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and more sporadically, Survivor Series tag matches had to earn their way into a coveted slot.

More recently, however, the presentation has gotten lazier. The full field of participants is generally announced by the on-screen authority figure of the time in a five-minute throwaway segment on RAW or SmackDown, or worse as with the upcoming Survivor Series, just splashed across social media at 3:30 pm Eastern on a random Saturday afternoon.

Now the field as it stands is... fine, it’s alright. Drew McIntyre was always going to captain Team SmackDown. Seth Rollins, Finn Bálor and Kevin Owens were all but locks for Team RAW. But as fans, Survivor Series presents an opportunity to scour the RAW and SmackDown rosters to determine for ourselves which participants on each side would produce the best match possible. The current card left several better options on the table.

So how SHOULD the battle lines have been drawn?

10. Cesaro Replaces King Woods

The reign of King Woods has been everything that most fans were hoping it would be. After he lobbied for so long to live out his lifelong dream of becoming King of the Ring, witnessing the most often overlooked member of The New Day finally get the shine and recognition he so richly deserves has been wonderful. In that spirit, shouldn’t the King be presented with his OWN kingdom to preside over instead of merely being an ally on a team commanded by a certain Scottish Warrior?

It’s understandable that WWE may fear they lack the depth in their tag division to put together another 20-man tag team elimination match. However, a little time spent perusing the locker room would easily demonstrate that King Woods could lead a royal army of Vikings, Lotharios, poets and jesters to the battlefield of ‘Kings’ and ‘Profits’ against RAW’s squad of Alpha Dawgs, A-Listers and Mysterios.

For a chance to preside over a larger militia, surely the benevolent king would be willing to yield his spot to his fellow UpUpDownDown brethren and King of Swing, Cesaro. Arguably the most trusted hand in WWE, The Swiss Superman could reliably put on a clinic with anyone on Team RAW, could reignite hostilities with Seth Rollins and most critically, would make for an imposing addition to McIntyre’s militia.
