10 Superstars WWE Tried To Push In 2017 (But Failed Miserably)

1. Jason Jordan

If being labeled Kurt Angle's long-lost son isn't a gimmick that's dead on arrival, we're not sure what else would be.

Actually, I take that back, as Chad Gable would have fit that role far better than Jason Jordan has - and might have actually made it work. Jordan, on the other hand, has always lacked charisma on his own, which is why his pairing with Gable as American Alpha worked so well. Despite being an excellent wrestler, he comes across as generic in almost every way. Therefore, it wasn't shocking in the slightest that he didn't get over as a smiling babyface when he initially arrived on Raw.

The resentment of Jordan by fans continued throughout the fall, where the boos for him grew louder and louder by the week. To their credit, the company eventually realized that most fans hate his guts, so the seeds were planted for a heel turn. We were headed in that direction before Jordan replaced Dean Ambrose as Seth Rollins' tag team partner. Now, it's unknown when he'll flip the switch and go full heel, if at all.

For his sake, here's hoping WWE can utilize him properly in 2018, and not set him up to fail...again.
