Good news, WWE fans: you have made it to the end of the year.

The final WWE pay-per-view of 2017 is upon us, and certain sections of the Universe could be forgiven for looking past it towards the new year. The Royal Rumble and the Road to WrestleMania are right around the corner, after all.

But don’t you go sleeping on Clash of Champions just yet. Every step on that aforementioned road is vital, and SmackDown Live’s final big event of this strange, strange year is tasked with putting the pieces in place ahead of 2018.

For a whole host of reasons, this is a make or break show. Will Jinder Mahal somehow find a way to end the year as a two-time WWE Champion? Are Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn going to be unemployed for Christmas? Will the Fashion Files finally, finally, finally come to an end?

Clash of Champions isn’t going to be the best WWE pay-per-view of the year, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t important - and as such, WWE can’t afford any big mistakes this Sunday in the TD Garden.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
