10 Things To Remember About WWE Survivor Series 98 Deadly Game Tournament

A new corporate champion was crowned on a night WWE fans will never forget!

This year's WWE Survivor Series event will feature tournament matches to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The last time that happened at Survivor Series was in 1998, when the show was given the tagline 'A Deadly Game'. It's been 17 years since that show and fans still talk about with smiles on their faces because it was such a memorable event. The WWE Championship had been vacated after Vince McMahon made things really difficult for Steve Austin, while Austin did his part to complicate things when he counted both Kane and Undertaker down when they were in a WWE Title match. As a result of all that, the WWE Title was on the line at Survivor Series 1998. WWE had a fairly young roster of up and coming talent at the time and with Bret Hart leaving a year earlier and Shawn Michaels forced to retire after WrestleMania, it was time for others to step up. Steve Austin was just crowned "the man" at that year's 'Mania while the likes of The Rock, Mankind, Triple H and Kane were superstars on the rise who had yet to win a WWE Title. The Undertaker was a veteran in the middle of a heel turn. There were so many possible winners, which made it all the more exciting. Since that 1998 edition of Survivor Series is celebrated so much and with the 2015 event on the horizon, it's a good time to look back at it and remember the things that made it so special. There were other matches at the event that weren't about the tournament, but this feature will just focus on the tournament itself. Let's get to it!
