10 Things We Learned From Attending WWE WrestleMania 37 Live
5. Tampa Took A P*ss During A Hometown Star's Match
During the Nigerian Drum Match (which turned out to basically be a no disqualification match with timbales) opening vignettes, WWE went out of its way to make it clear Big E hailed from Tampa, Florida. The New Day member must have also directly said Tampa was his hometown at least 12,000 times.
So how did Tampa respond to their hometown hero?
With a p*ss break.
To be fair, fans started to stir toward the end of the women's tag team match. Still, it was surprising to see a bulk of the crowd shuffle around and head back out into the corridors of Raymond James once both men headed to the ring.
At first, your writer here thought he was out of the loop. Was WWE filming something out in the halls? Did the merch shop finally load up on more weather-appropriate clothing, such as hoodies and jackets (which sold out during Night One)?
Nope and nope.
Men and women alike were lining up for food and potty breaks. While the match itself was decent, especially the kendo stick shots that echoed through the open stadium, something about its presentation didn't keep many people in their seats (or maybe it was the lacklustre start to Night Two.) By large, families with children stuck around, but anyone else decided to take a let-me-up during their boy's big showing.
