10 Things We Learned From NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis (Exclusive Interview)
1. The Immediate Future Of NWA Programming
Before the world was thrown into such uncertainty, the NWA was due to deliver the 2020 Crockett Cup this past April 19. There, Nick Aldis was due to defend the NWA Worlds Championship against Marty Scurll, with the Villain having to pay Aldis $500,000 if he was unsuccessful in this latest title shot.
Not only was the Crockett Cup forced to be rescheduled due to the global situation, but NWA TV tapings were likewise put on hold. Given how WWE and AEW are continuing to put on empty arena shows, the question was posed to Aldis as to whether the NWA has any concrete plans on getting in-ring action back up and running.
Taking the sensible approach to matters, Aldis confirmed to us that, "In-ring, no. We're just going to be fluid on that. We're not going to make a decision on that until we feel confident that we're being responsible."
For those wanting their NWA fix though, fear not, for Aldis added that new content is currently being worked on - including him, Tom Latimer, and former TNA star Crimson getting together to reminisce about their first gimmicks, and there are also plans to do panel discussions, such as spotlighting the life and career of the iconic Harley Race.
Looking to maintain the high quality seen in recent times from NWA output, the Worlds Champion assured us, "The one thing we didn't want to do is just rush stuff just for the sake of it. We do want to try to make it where if we're going to put stuff out, we still want it to be professional and worth people's money and worth people's time."
