10 Things We Learned From Raven On Stone Cold's Podcast

1. Raven Sat In The Corner As A Tribute To Jake Roberts

It wasn't just the DDT that Raven lifted from Jake Roberts during his career. Again, fire up some old Raven matches on the WWE Network and you'll see him sit in the corner before the bell rings. That was to help him stand out, but it was also inspired by Jake slithering out of the corner like a snake when working as a heel.

Austin seemed surprised to learn this. It makes sense that he's never had the chance to ask his friend about why he chose to sit in the corner though, because the pair didn't cross paths much once Raven left WCW and joined ECW. By the time Raven and Austin worked together again in WWE years later, the subject probably didn't even come up.

Hearing Levy talk about his admiration of Roberts is in itself inspiring. It's clear that he looked up to Jake, loved his psychology and knew he could use little touches of that work himself. It was pretty smart to lift something so incidental and make it a huge part of his own character in ECW.
